Girls volleyball team wins Region 13 Championship

For the 31st year in a row (1993-2023) and 36th total time (1974,1975, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1993-2023), the Morgan High Volleyball Team has claimed the region championship. Going 21-6 on the season and a perfect 9-0 in Region 13 play, the team only dropped a single game out of the 28 played during region action, compiling an impressive 27 set win to one loss ratio.   

In their final region game on Oct. 17 at Ogden, Morgan dominated Ogden 25-8, 25-10, 25-7.  

The week before, Oct. 10,  Morgan celebrated senior night with a similar victory, 25-14, 25-15, over South Summit.  Seniors Kamryn Randall, Alyvia Jaffa, Tori Smith, Hadlee Goode, and Hadley Ovard were honored before the match and earned a final victory on their home court together.  

Jaffa tallied 16 kills and junior Gentry Criddle added seven. The team notched nine aces with Emma Thurston recording six. Smith and Goode recorded five assisted blocks and Jaffa contributed four.

Ovard and Criddle respectively dug 12 and 11 balls up while Criddle handled 28 serve receives and Jerstyn Payne took five. Thurston and Abby Mckay handled the setting duties well.

Final RPI rankings and the bracket reveal for the state tournament were posted Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. Morgan currently sits high in the RPI rankings and will have a bye into the state tournament. It will take place Oct. 25-26 at UVU. Game time for the first match will be determined by the seeds on Wednesday. λ
